Hey there! I’m Abby Krause, the creator of this space, and I’m so glad you’re here.

Abby Kay Co is a brand centered on revealing the unique qualities of individuals through handmade crochet goods and exploring the beautiful intersection between engineering and crochet.

My journey with crochet began when I was quite young, taught by my mom. I remember frustratingly failing at a granny square and letting the skill slip away for years. Fast forward to my junior year of college: I was coping with the chaos of change and the growing pains of being in your twenties. That’s when I picked up my hook again—and this time, I didn’t look back.

Since then, I’ve been experimenting, learning, and dreaming of how to share my passion for this art with the world.

Owning a business has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. The idea of creating something entirely my own—a space to spread light and love—has always inspired me. When I realized how powerful crochet could be for crafting personalized gifts and finding peace, I knew I had found my niche. I will one day open up a store front to sell yarn, my crochet creations, and create space for others to learn and build community. 

What continues to draw me deeper into the world of crochet is its connection to my other great passion: engineering. Every crochet project involves planning, problem-solving, prototyping, and iteration—just like engineering. It’s where the creative meets the technical, and I love living in that space.

Through Abby Kay Co, I’ll be sharing my crochet journey—past, present, and future. I’ll write about the heart behind personalized handmade goods, the overlap of crochet and engineering, behind-the-scenes glimpses of my process, and my evolving vision for this brand.

As a process- and structure-oriented engineer, everything I build here is guided by five core values:
